Immune Boosting Salmon Burgers for <$1

Eating fish twice a week for optimal health can get pretty pricey. Stocking up on canned can make your life a whole lot easier, tastier, and won't break the bank.

Next time you’re grocery shopping stock up on canned salmon with skin & bones included for more calcium and nutrients. It's a shock at first, but trust me once everything is mashed together, you don't even notice it's there!!

Use them in place of tuna for a salmon salad or make these delicious salmon burgers for tasty lunch or dinner.

Nutrition: 120 calories, 13 g of protein per burger, great source of vitamin D

Makes: 8 burgers

Ingredients:

  • 1- 14.75 oz can wild salmon (drained but reserve liquid)

  • 2 eggs

  • 1-2 oz pretzels processed (~10-20 pretzels) or 1/4-1/2 cup bread crumbs

  • 2 tsp cumin

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 4 Tbsp hummus or other dip (guac and tzatziki work)

  • 2 cloves garlic, shredded

  • 1 tsp ginger, shredded

  • Mushrooms and onions finely chopped

  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice

Directions:

  • Mix all ingredients in large bowl.

  • If the burgers seem too dry add some of the reserved salmon liquid. If they are too wet use the extra ounce of pretzel or breadcrumbs.

  • Form into 8 patties.

  • Cook on medium-high heat, 4 mins per side.
